Random Silliness-- Taking a Break from the Christmas Blogging

Danger Boy got a pirate patch at his Kindergarten Christmas party, so he and Kid Catastrophe took turns with it for awhile. Arrrggghhh!
Kid Catastrophe was helping me make sugar cookies. She put the flour in a pile, and rubbed her whole face it in several times. I don't remember the recipe calling for flouring of my daughter's face....

How many times do you repair the broken legs on a favorite toy horse before you are allowed to shoot the poor thing and put it out of its misery?
We call this game, cat in a brown paper bag!One of the kids thought Nutmeg needed a toy cat to help him sleep. Do cats need stuffed cats instead of stuffed bears?

Santa Claus - This Was Your Year!!!

Santa Claus has always been a fearful figure to my kids. They run away, they refuse to sit on his lap, they refuse to even take bags of candy from him sometimes. But, not this year! Woot! Finally, Santa Claus catches a break from my kids. I give Danger Boy complete credit for it, since he got really excited and interested in Santa Clause, and he got Kid Catastrophe in on it. They are really doing lots of Santa related things at his school, and I love how much he's gotten into the "legends" and "lore" of Santa. Anything he gets excited about, KC generally will too.

Santa Arrives!!!
KC acts a litte shy at first....

But then, she totally warms up and tells Santa what she wants and everything! Danger Boy also tells Santa what he wants.
This is the kids (and our "extras" we babysit once a week) dancing to some Christmas songs.

Yay for Santa, and yay for a super fun Ward Christmas Party!

Dinosaurs vs. Xmas

(The wife will be thrilled- that I posted.)

Sometimes when your parent, you just see toys on the ground. Little land mines and caltrops waiting for the unsuspecting foot at 5:30 AM. You don't see the pattern.

It started when I noticed this dinosaur stuck in our home-made vent diverter. (First thing that I thought to myself was that this dino was surviving the ice age.)

Then, I finally saw the pattern. It was an all out jurassic attack on Christmas!

Oh the horror!

Later I noticed some small orange velociraptors tucked behind the Santa in the first pic. You can see one just to the right. (I guess the heat had made them torpid and they would not join the battle.)

Christmas Tree Family Home Evening

For family home evening last Tuesday, Tired Mom decided that putting up the Christmas tree would be a fun activity. Paranoid Dad was nervous since Tired Mom would only be able to supervise due to the Amazing Bump and a sinus infection causing her some major trouble, but he and the kids did a great job!

First, the kids put on their festive hats they found in the house decorating box.
And Paranoid Dad put on his Snoopy Christmas Pajama Pants.

The lights were the first to go on, and Kid Catastrophe did her part by standing behind one part of the tree.
There were the usual tangled lights issues, and then one strand of lights did not work at all and had to be taken down.
PD graciously helped both babies try to put the angel on top. KC chickened out, so Danger Boy ended up doing the honors alone.
We ran a little late Tuesday, so we finished with putting the actual ornaments on the tree on Wednesday.
The kids seemed to enjoy their handiwork and were proud of their Christmas tree.
And, VOILA! Christmas tree in all it's glory!
