Holy Cardboard Box Danger Boy!

Cardboard boxes, and cardboard in general seems to fascinate kids, mine included. Danger Boy built a house in the living room while Kid Catastrophe was taking a nap. She joined him, with energy, when she got downstairs.

She brought the animals too.
And her Dora doll as well (d-d-d-d-d-d-d-dora d-d-d-d-d-d-d-dora)

They had a "door" which was one flap where the two pieces met.
Danger Boy created a pet snake for the house out of a string of beads. Do all boys make random things into snakes and guns?
The snake got a little rowdy at one point, whipping into the Queen Q's face and making her freak out. The snake got a time out.
Q was more content to share this house than the one in our yard (plastic play house given to Q by Granny), maybe because I told her it was her brother's?
She also knocked it down, but that's what happens to all cardboard houses eventually, I guess.

ah, yes, cardboard boxes. they are the best! i remember when we moved to glen carbon we had the awesomest big boxes ever. my and my sister decided we didn't want to live at home anymore, and made a hut out in the woods with them to live in. it lasted a whole afternoon as i recall. ;)

I lived near Farm Fresh (in Edwardsville) until I was 6 and we would stalk the trash of that place waiting for when they would put out boxes. We even got a refrigerator box once! Which, of course, was actually a rocket box, didn't you know?

I was always afraid of card board boxes as a child. My cousin once closed me up in one and I never recovered. lol! Looks like a good time though. Maybe I should try it now. :)

Dana, maybe you should stick to making forts with blankets, pillows, and couch cushions? Just as much fun as cardboard, but more cuddly!

I was also shut in a cardboard box, and my siblings put an old television on top to "shut me in". I screamed hysterically for about 10 seconds before they quickly got the TV off and let me out. That must have been some scream because they sure moved fast, and then begged me not to tell mom or dad.

This is why I don't have a "childhood" blog like J & R, because it would just read like a childhood version of tales from the crypt ;)

oh yes boxs are cool. i got a fridge box too when i was a kid. i played with it till i fell apart. i would sit on top and i could touch the celing. i was awsom. untill i fell through the top down to the floor. that sucked. i also remember some kids(i wont say witch ones) getting some thing for x-mas that was on the expencive side but also happen to come in a very big box. i remember the grand parents saying that they should have saved the money and just bought a big box, because the kids played more with it than the thing that came in it.

That is so cute! I have yet to find a box large enough for a house. Perhaps someday when I get rockin' shiny fridge?

Ashley, this was actually two boxes, opened up, and then stapled together on the sides. I'm pretty crafty too ;)

Cardboard boxes are great. There was one Christmas, when I was a child when we actually got cardboard boxes for Christmas. My dad was laid off, and my parents had no money for presents. My mother went dumpster diving around town and got a bunch of huge boxes. She cut turrets and buttresses (or whatever those tooth looking things are) in the top. She painted them and Santa gave us a room full of castles for Christmas. It was my favorite Christmas ever!
