Random Silliness-- Taking a Break from the Christmas Blogging

Danger Boy got a pirate patch at his Kindergarten Christmas party, so he and Kid Catastrophe took turns with it for awhile. Arrrggghhh!
Kid Catastrophe was helping me make sugar cookies. She put the flour in a pile, and rubbed her whole face it in several times. I don't remember the recipe calling for flouring of my daughter's face....

How many times do you repair the broken legs on a favorite toy horse before you are allowed to shoot the poor thing and put it out of its misery?
We call this game, cat in a brown paper bag!One of the kids thought Nutmeg needed a toy cat to help him sleep. Do cats need stuffed cats instead of stuffed bears?

Santa Claus - This Was Your Year!!!

Santa Claus has always been a fearful figure to my kids. They run away, they refuse to sit on his lap, they refuse to even take bags of candy from him sometimes. But, not this year! Woot! Finally, Santa Claus catches a break from my kids. I give Danger Boy complete credit for it, since he got really excited and interested in Santa Clause, and he got Kid Catastrophe in on it. They are really doing lots of Santa related things at his school, and I love how much he's gotten into the "legends" and "lore" of Santa. Anything he gets excited about, KC generally will too.

Santa Arrives!!!
KC acts a litte shy at first....

But then, she totally warms up and tells Santa what she wants and everything! Danger Boy also tells Santa what he wants.
This is the kids (and our "extras" we babysit once a week) dancing to some Christmas songs.

Yay for Santa, and yay for a super fun Ward Christmas Party!

Dinosaurs vs. Xmas

(The wife will be thrilled- that I posted.)

Sometimes when your parent, you just see toys on the ground. Little land mines and caltrops waiting for the unsuspecting foot at 5:30 AM. You don't see the pattern.

It started when I noticed this dinosaur stuck in our home-made vent diverter. (First thing that I thought to myself was that this dino was surviving the ice age.)

Then, I finally saw the pattern. It was an all out jurassic attack on Christmas!

Oh the horror!

Later I noticed some small orange velociraptors tucked behind the Santa in the first pic. You can see one just to the right. (I guess the heat had made them torpid and they would not join the battle.)

Christmas Tree Family Home Evening

For family home evening last Tuesday, Tired Mom decided that putting up the Christmas tree would be a fun activity. Paranoid Dad was nervous since Tired Mom would only be able to supervise due to the Amazing Bump and a sinus infection causing her some major trouble, but he and the kids did a great job!

First, the kids put on their festive hats they found in the house decorating box.
And Paranoid Dad put on his Snoopy Christmas Pajama Pants.

The lights were the first to go on, and Kid Catastrophe did her part by standing behind one part of the tree.
There were the usual tangled lights issues, and then one strand of lights did not work at all and had to be taken down.
PD graciously helped both babies try to put the angel on top. KC chickened out, so Danger Boy ended up doing the honors alone.
We ran a little late Tuesday, so we finished with putting the actual ornaments on the tree on Wednesday.
The kids seemed to enjoy their handiwork and were proud of their Christmas tree.
And, VOILA! Christmas tree in all it's glory!

Thanksgiving Weekend Happenings

Thursday- fun at my mom's house with (step) cousin Allison. We got dressed up, and Paranoid Dad had some trouble getting a good pic of all of us. Oh well! The other pic is just a funny pic of Danger Boy reading a book. Kid Catastrophe got some TLC from Allison in the way of getting her hair fixed. KC loves all things girly, so she was over the moon. She's also a big Allison groupy, so Allison does not really have to try hard anyway.

Friday- Thanksgiving, Part 2- off to Mark & Jean's house (without our camera) for super yummy Jean cooking. She really goes all out for her "friend's thanksgiving". Mark helps too ;) The kids had fun with 2 year old Zoey, and Karen & Brian's little girl Emma.

Saturday- Tired Mom went off to do a little work on her car (with the ever trusty Renae alongside, and Trent too!). Everything went well, and the kids looked pretty happy to see the "new" car on Sunday morning. Danger Boy said first thing, "can we put toys in it?????" Of course, Tired Mom said "heck yes!" Thanks again to Uncle John & Aunt Liz!

Family Home Evening

We recently (and I guess finally) started doing family home evening a few months ago. We literally could not find a night until then. Last night, Paranoid Dad gave a lesson on Nature. Danger Boy helpfully interjected, "I ate my fingernail at school today!" Not sure what that had to do about nature ;)

Today, Kid Catastrophe was standing on the back of the couch looking out the window. I saw her rubbing something on the window, which I guessed was her spit. I yelled, "Stop spitting on the window!" KC said back, "I'm not spitting, I'm just licking the window!" Yep, that's actually worse little talking back girl.

Root beer floats! The best treat to end family home evening with ;)

An Omen of Things to Come?

Hopefully not ;)

Kid Catastrophe & Captain Justice are walking down my friend's stairs talking.
"I'm getting taller!" CJ says.
"Yeah, me too." KC replies.

Vance's Dinosaur Birthday Part 2

Everyone had lots of fun at Danger Boy's "family birthday party". Granny got Vance a drum set. Not sure where she got this idea.

Grandma got DB the appropriate dinosaur themed gift....
But not before she cursed the wrapping paper and card with the mark of the beast!!! (screeeeeeeeeeescreeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeescreeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee)
Tired Mom still rules at homemade cake decorating (rah!)

Blowing out the birthday candles at the family birthday party.

Here's wishing for many more happy birthdays for the best boy ever!!!

Vance's Dinosaur Birthday Part 1

Danger Boy's birthday was today, and he had so much fun! He got a crown at school and got to be "top banana" (bring a toy for show and tell, and give out the snacks, etc.). He got a bloody nose on his birthday though ;(
We had presents, cupcakes, and decorations to get ready for Vance's first birthday party for all his friends.

Vance got lots of really great toys that he and the kids all played with!
Thanks for Payson (Ashlyn), Camden, Shannon, Cooper, Justice (and Clayton) all for coming and bringing presents!

At the end of the night, a tired birthday boy got to wear his dinosaur pajamas he got from Tired Mom & Paranoid Dad!

Inside

Inside

I found this place inside
It started beating not too long ago
I stretch out just a bit, and feel...
Hands, toes, something feeding into my belly
I wiggle around some more and feel myself surrounded by soft warmth
If only I could understand a little better
I remember where I was before
Happy, at perfect peace, but without this body
I hear her voice above me, and I feel so much love already
I hear other voices, little voices, so close to me
I feel a gentle pressure, now and again
And the little voices are talking to me
Light invades, sometimes, and it scares me
How long will I be swimming inside her?
The little voices seem to beckon me to come out and play with them
Is there really so much out there?
Or is this body I have just a dream?

(Tired Mom hasn't written a poem in awhile, but I think the Amazing Bump was talking to me yesterday)

Recent Funny Kid Stuff

Kid Catastrophe says to me today, "I want eat an apple, and watch Snow White (except she can't say the "s" so it's "no white"). I laughed since Snow White eats and poison apple in the movie and falls into a coma!

Danger Boy picked up a choice phrase at school (I guess). He said "Oh my G--" in the car the other day. I said "Don't say that! That makes Heavenly Father very angry when you say that!" I explained to him, the best I could why it was bad and he could say "omigosh" if he wanted but not "God". A few minutes later DB asks, "Is Heavenly Father still mad at me?" in this little sad voice.

I of course told him that HF was not mad as long as he did not do it again. It was so sweet!
The Amazing Bump gets bigger!

Pumpkin Farm!!!

Danger Boy and I had a great time at the pumpkin farm for the third year in a row! Twice with his preschool, and now with his Kindergarten class. Here's a pic of Mrs. Norris (NOT the cat from Harry Potter) trying to get the class together for a group photo. She's so patient!

The corn box was a big hit!

It was so cold! 40 degrees with wind kind of cold, so we got hot chocolate and snuggled on the hay ride to stay warm.
There's a tower of hay with a slide and other "playground" type stuff in one area, so DB had fun over there too.
This calf was so gentle you could pet it and it licked his hand too. What a sweetie!

Here's and "action" shot of an aggressive goat knocking the goat food out of DB's hand. Maybe I should have asked for another cone for Vance? Ah, hindsight.
We were only able to stay for 2 hours because of the cold, but what fun!

Kid Catastrophe-- Super Cute in Pink Pajamas and a Cape!

This picture was just too cute not to post! Those are black cats on her pink pajamas ;)

Danger Boy Gets Sick

Danger Boy got sick on Friday and ran a fever that got up to 102.6 at one point. He's never gotten a fever that high. Scary stuff for Tired Mom! Everywhere he slept, our Super Cat Nutmeg would follow and lay on him. Even before I knew he was sick on Thursday night, I found Nutmeg in Vance's room laying next to him. Do cats sense sickness?

Here's some pics of strange places Nutmeg likes to hang out around the house.
Open dishwasher door

Vance's desk in the backroom (among other less animated animals)

Kid Catastrophe made a game of it by piling the stuffed animals on top of him. What a tolerant cat!
